Life Group Guide - The 4 T’s in John 7-9
Focus passage: Weekly reading in John this week: John 7-9
Opening Thought
We all face moments of division, doubt, dispute, and disgrace in life. In John 7–9, Jesus meets each of these head-on, not with condemnation, but with confidence, clarity, and compassion. Through the stories of the crowd, the woman caught in adultery, and the blind man, we see four transformational truths that reveal who Jesus really is. As we journey through these chapters, we’re challenged not only to know about Jesus but to know Him personally.
The question remains: “Who do you say that He is?”
Discussion Points: The 4 T’s
1. Perfect Timing: God’s still in Control in Division (John 7:1–14, 40–43)
Jesus didn’t go to the feast on the disciples' timeline—He went on the Father’s.
The crowd was divided—not over God, but over Jesus' identity.
Even in division, Jesus was in control and moved in perfect timing.
Discussion Questions:
1.Have you ever felt like God was late—but later saw His perfect timing?
2. Truth: The Answer to Doubt (John 8:12, John 9:5, John 8:31–32)
Jesus declares, “I am the Light of the World.”
Doubt is met with irrevocable truth: His Word, His presence, and His promises.
His truth sets us free—not just from sin, but from spiritual confusion and fear.
Discussion Questions:
What does it mean that Jesus is “light” in your life right now?
3. Testimony: His Testimony and yours is Undeniable Amidst Dispute(John 8:13–18)
Jesus knew where He came from and where He was going—and so can we.
People argued, but His testimony remained undeniable.
Your story may not be "perfect," but it is powerful when Jesus is in it.
Discussion Questions:
What’s one part of your testimony that shows God’s undeniable work?
How has your view of your past changed because of Jesus?
4. Transformation: Grace That Conquers Disgrace (John 8:1–11; John 9:1–25)
Jesus protects the woman from judgment but calls her to transformation.
The blind man couldn’t explain theology, but he could say, “I was blind but now I see.”
Jesus doesn’t just save us—He transforms us and gives us a new identity.
Discussion Questions:
Where have you experienced transformation by Jesus?
What’s the difference between forgiveness and transformation?
