Beyond Wednesday is about taking the message with you. Whether you’re sitting in a Life Group, grabbing coffee with a friend, or spending time alone with God, take these questions with you.
Kingdom Culture - A Different Heart (September 23)
Read Matthew 4:23 - 5:1-6, Matthew 7:24-27, Psalm 37:11
1. “Jesus, I need You.”
Where in your life right now are you most tempted to rely on yourself instead of admitting your need for Jesus?
2. “What breaks God’s heart?”
What sin or brokenness have you become comfortable ignoring, either in your own life or around you? Why do you think it’s easy to become numb to it?
3. “Mourn with hope.”
What would it look like for you to bring that brokenness honestly to God instead of hiding, minimizing, or making excuses for it?
4. “Be a thermostat, not a thermometer.”
A thermometer simply reflects the temperature around it; a thermostat helps change it. Where do you find yourself simply reflecting the culture around you instead of bringing the presence and heart of Jesus into it?
5. “Strength surrendered to God.”
What are you trying to control right now, your future, relationships, reputation, academics, finances, plans, or something else? What would surrendering that to Jesus actually look like?
6. “Follow Jesus.”
Jesus ends this section by talking about the difference between hearing His words and actually putting them into practice. What is one specific step you can take this week to move from simply attending Jesus to actually following Jesus?
